Izmir parking guide
In the Aegean's largest city, finding parking can be challenging around the Alsancak waterfront, Konak Square, and Karşıyaka bazaar. Understanding Izmir's unique traffic patterns is the first step to the right parking strategy.
Alsancak and the Kordon
Parking along the Kordon is very limited. If you are heading to Alsancak, prefer multi-storey car parks near 1453 Street or mall parking. Occupancy rises early on weekend waterfront events — arriving before noon helps.
Konak and the historic center
The Kemeraltı Bazaar and Konak Square area are surrounded by narrow streets. Vehicle traffic in the area is restricted, so using car parks on surrounding roads and continuing on foot is the most practical approach. Park & ride points connected to İZBAN or metro simplify access to the center.
Bornova and Karşıyaka
The university area in Bornova is busy on weekdays. Forum Bornova and Özdilek AVM car parks can serve as alternatives. Street parking along Karşıyaka bazaar is limited; larger car parks on the Mavişehir side offer better options.
Tips for finding parking in Izmir
- If heading to coastal areas, look for car parks one street inland — usually cheaper and less crowded.
- Park near İZBAN or metro stations and continue by public transport.
- Account for increased tourist traffic in summer; early morning is ideal.
- Type "Izmir" or a district name on ParkYeriBul to compare car parks in your area.
